Hop harvest

Every 2rd Sunday of September, there’s a hop fest at Wally’s Farm. From hop vine into beer is a day that’s completely dedicated to hop. In the morning the harvesters are determined by drawing lots, then the harvest begins with a cup of coffee and a drink. At lunch time there’s a appetizer concert, accompanied with the first weighing of the hop. In the mean time there’s a delicious pork broiled on the spit. In the afternoon the hop harvest continues and several free covered wagon tours take place. In the late afternoon there’s a second weighing of the hop. Traditionally a man of straw is made for the party to celebrate the end of harvest, which takes place in the early evening. The straw man, who represents the rough hop peasant, is set afire on the corner of the pole field. Afterwards there’s a dance party, accompanied by the best country music and by sixties music. Entrance to this event is free.
